Kit Chee Beat Eastern At Miniature Football In Aid Of Scout Funds

In a Miniature Football match in aid of funds for the 13th Hongkong Scout Group on the Navy ground at Causeway Bay yesterday, Kit Chee defeated Eastern by one goal to nil.

In the first match of the afternoon, which was between Wah Yan College and the Hon Ying Sports Club, the teams shared honours in a goalless draw.
The schoolboys gave a very impressive performance against their more experienced opponents and come near to scoring on several occasions, only the brilliance of the opposing goalkeeper preventing them from doing so.
Prior to the kick off, the players were presented to Mr Andrew D.K.Luke, Headquarters Commissioner. The players in the second match were introduced to Mr C.C.Quah, Colony Commissioner.
In addition to the soccer matches, spectators were treated to selections by the Auxiliary Fire Service Band under the direction of Mr A.G.B.Carnell.

JUDO DEMONSTRATION

Demonstrations in Judo and Signalling were given by members of the 13th Hongkong Group Boy Scouts, while a display in the Chinese art of self defence was given by schoolgirls.
The feature match of the afternoon between Kit Chee and Eastern started off at a fast pace, with the fonner assuming the offensive but unable to penetrate the Eastern defence.
The Eastern forwards came into the picture with several keen thrusts, but their efforts came to naught against the fast tacking Kit Chee defence.
In the 18th minute Chang Kam-hoi came near with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area, the ball striking the crossbar and going out of play.
At the other end, Tse Kam-ho sent in a stinging shot which Yu Yiu-tak did well to turn round the upright for a fruitless corner.
In the next moment, however, Kit Chee took the lead when Chang Kam-hoi, in attempting to head clear a high cross, diverted the ball into his own net.
Eastern retaliated strongly after this reverse, but the interval come without any change in the score sheet.
Eastern swept into the attack immediately on resumption in a bid to obtain the equaliser, but try as they would, the Eastern forwards could not score.
Kit Chee were prominent in several attacking movements, but Yu Yiu-tak was on the top of his form and saved many almost certain goals.
With time growing short, Eastern threw everything they know into the game, but their shots were either blocked by the Kit Chee defenders or went wide of the mark.
The final whistle came with Kit Chee still holding their slender 1-0 lead.
