HON MR. C. H. ROSS
Farewell Dinner By the Scouts Company.
On Saturday evening the Hon. Mr. C. H. Ross, who leaves Hongkong to-morrow, was entertained to a farewell dinner by the Scouts Company of the Hongkong Volunteers at the Headquarters. The function, which was of a somewhat private nature, was attended by about 80 guests, and the many speeches which were made during the evening gave expression to the gratitude of those present for the keen interest that Captain Ross had displayed in the company.
It was intended to have made a presentation of a silver salver to the guest of the evening, but the gift was not to hand. When complete it will bear the names of all those present in autograph form, and will be forwarded to the recipient.
At the conclusion of a most enjoyable function, the Scouts formed up, and, headed by Mr. Munro playing the bagpipes, marched in proper order to the Peak tramway with Captain Ross, whom they cheered heartily as he left the lower Station.
