[English] The Utility of the Boy Scouts' Staves.

5 December 1914

The Utility of the Boy Scouts' Staves.

One is often led to wonder to what useful purpose the Boy Scouts put the broomstick which forms part of their equipment. A would-be wag who sought to take a rise out of a party of lads guarding a Home railway bridge has discovered at least one. Assuming a German accent he announced that he was about to "plow up der pridge." During the next few seconds he saw more stars than there are in the milky way and was borne off in triumph insensible! Which shows that one should not play the fool in war time.- Exchange.
