THE PRINCE AND THE SCOUTS.
London, Oct. 7.
Fifty-eight special trains brought to Alexandra Palace 50,000 Boy Scouts to welcome the Prince of Wales on his return from his tour. Lieut.-General Baden Powell and the Duke of Connaught were present.
The Prince of Wales spoke twice, first to 17,000 Wolf Cubs, his voice being wirelessly amplified, advising them always to do their best at work and play. Then, after the Duke of Connaught had conferred upon the Prince the Order of the Silver Wolf, 45,000 Scouts charged, cheered and then sat on their staves to listen to the Prince, who said that as members of a big jolly brotherhood they were preparing to be useful citizens of the nation and the greater brotherhood of nations forming in the British Empire.
The Prince of Wales in the evening spoke from his study, his speech being broadcasted wirelessly to Scouts all over the world.
