BOY SCOUTS.

6th Troop's Fine Display.

A large audience assembled in the Great Hall of Queen's College on Saturday night for the purpose of witnessing a concert and display by the 6th Hongkong (Ellis Kadoorie School) Troop of Boy Scouts. The hall had been very prettily decked out for the occasion, the entrance to the building being hung with flags and bunting, including the Scouts' badge. The audience was composed chiefly of Chinese, who took a very great interest in the proceedings and warmly applauded the many excellent items given.

The programme opened with a pianoforte solo by Mr. Lu Po-lun, followed by drill by the Scouts, whose smartness and generally excellent physical appearance compelled admiration. Some Chinese music and a recitation "A Scout's a Scout for a' that" were splendidly rendered and then came a boxing exhibition between Patrol Leader Ng Wai-man and Scout Chan Shu-chee, two adept exponents of the fistic art. A first aid display, following a staircase accident, was very smartly given and evoked much applause. One of the most enjoyable items of the evening was a remarkably fine display of illuminated club swinging by Patrol Leader Ng Wai-man, which was followed by some life motion pictures illustrating a highway robbery, which appealed to the younger element.

After the interval Miss I. E. Etheredge obliged with a pianoforte solo and the Troop indulged in Swedish drill. Magic by Patrol Leader Chan Chung-yu, blindfold boxing, and signalling were all capably done, and a Chinese sketch kidnapping in three acts was a notable production, reflecting great credit upon the Scouts who took part. The programme concluded with some English songs and the singing of the Chinese National Anthem and "God Save the King."

The performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all present and illustrated the great value of Scout training to the young. Those who took part are to be heartily congratulated upon the efficient manner in which they conducted themselves.

During the interval a collection was taken up on behalf of the Troop Fund.
