[English] LORD BADEN-POWELL ABANDONS HIS TOUR

22 January 1938

LORD BADEN-POWELL ABANDONS HIS TOUR

Lord Baden-Powell has abandoned his trip to the Union of South Africa and to Northern and Southern Rhodesia following an attack of lumbago and bronchitis on the voyage out from England.

The communiqué from Nairobi making this announcement states that, although these complaints were not serious and he is now better, it has been deemed advisable to cancel Lord Baden-Powell's further plans to see his family in Rhodesia, since his doctors advise him against long, tiring journeys with frequent variations in climate.

Lady Baden-Powell is flying to Rhodesia alone for a short visit in February. Lord Baden-Powell is remaining in Kenya until he returns to England in April. He left London on November 25.
