The Boy Scouts' Year.
The report for 1913 of the Boy Scouts' Association contains further proof of the continued spread of the movement. The number of scouts has steadily increased and there are now 160,000 in Great Britain and 40,000 in our Overseas Dominions. The number of sea scout troops has increased from 30 to 69, and 17 other troops have patrols of sea scouts.
It is proposed to organize a branch of senior scouts - so that the association may keep in touch with boys who are leaving and going into the world - and also to organize scouting for poor boys in slums. All this work needs money, and the report calls attention to the appeal for an endowment fund of £250,000 to provide the fixed income of £10,000 that is required.
