THE SCOUTS CONCERT.
Last evening a concert was given at St. Patrick's Club in connection with St. Josephs' College Boy Scouts and Bodyguard. There was a large attendance, including H.E. Major General Kelly and Capt. Edye, A.D.C., and an excellent programme was very much enjoyed. Particular mention must be made of the selections by the Philharmonic Band which rendered two items in quite good style. The Minotaur Glee Party were quite a feature of the programme, and rendered four items, including the "Soldiers' Chorus" from "Faust," in a finished manner. Miss Vera Crees is a violinist much above the average, and the solo she played exhibited a good knowledge of technique and rhythm which gained the plaudits of an enthusiastic audience. "A May Morning," sung by Mrs. Bowen, was charmingly rendered with a pleasing voice, as were also Spanish and Italian airs sung by Miss Sanchez. Miss E. Xavier played Chopin's Ballad, Op. 47, in a manner which did her great credit. Mr. Holman was in excellent voice for "Thora" and "Larboard Watch," and Mr. Botelho sang "Love abiding," in pleasing style. Two members of the D.C.L.I. Band did a comic turn, and four others gave an effective reed quartette which was much appreciated.
