[英文] 上海童子軍

1915年7月6日

Shanghai Boy Scouts.

Over four hundred boy scouts participated in interesting field manoeuvres last week, all the local scouts, Chinese, Shanghai Boy Scouts and the Baden Powell Scouts being fully represented. The scheme had been laid down by Major Trueman, Commandant S.V.C., who also acted as umpire, and provided some excellent scouting work. The general idea of the operations says the N. C. Daily News was that a large force (Blue), with modern equipment, was marching from Soochow on Shanghai with the object of effecting a surprise attack at night. The defence force (Red) received warning and immediately on mobilisation the Scouts were detailed to ascertain the movements of the enemy. The operations took place in the vicinity of Jessfield. The Red force was commanded by Chief Scoutmaster Houghton, while the Blue force was commanded by Scoutmaster Millington, of the Baden Powell scouts.
