[英文] 香港童軍於凡爾登來函

1916年9月29日

FROM A HONGKONG SCOUT.

Interesting Letter from Verdun.

Scoutmaster Braga kindly forwards us the following letter which he has received from a one-time Hongkong Boy Scout - Mr. A. F. Demie, formerly employed at Kowloon Docks, who is now fighting in the French ranks.

Sector postal 63.

22.8.16.

Dear Scoutmaster Braga,

As I have a few minutes of spare time I am dropping you this line to inquire about your health, hoping you are always in bonne santé, and same to all Brother Scouts. I am at present in Verdun; I have been here since a month and am accustomed to the place. As you know, we are in fear of a famine here. We have been short of food for three long days, as it had already been raining almost continually for weeks. We long for the rain, but we do not wish it to rain in that way. This is all the news I can give you. I believe I will be transferred to Salonique. I hope you will write to me oftener. I will be extremely glad if you can send me some old books, Scout text books, etc. But don't you send me any money as I have enough to spend here. I had some cash of my own when I left home. Tell Edwards that I send my best chin-chins and will write him next time.

With best regards to all Brother Scouts, and same to self.

I remain,

Your brother scout,

ADOLPHE.

Please give me big Pronchandy's address if you find it possible.
