EMPIRE SCOUTS' JAMBOREE.
INSPECTED BY THE KING.
LONDON, July 28th.
The rain slightly interfered with the Royal inspection of 600 scouts from various parts of the Empire who are attending the Jamboree. Despite the downpour, the boys marched whistling to Buckingham Palace. The inspection was held in the riding school instead of the quadrangle. Each detachment was grouped under its own flag, which was dipped as a salute to the King, who shook hands with the Scoutmasters and delivered a homily to the boys on the soundness of scout precepts. The King made a point of stopping and greeting a party of Japanese scouts who attended as visitors.
