"CAMP FIRE NIGHT."
BOY SCOUTS' SOCIAL GATHERING.
A very large gathering of Boy Scouts assembled at the Seamen's Institute on Saturday night for the first of a series of "Camp Fire" nights. The object of the function was to have a social gathering for the local Scouts and an address by some speaker.
The President of the Association, the Hon. Mr. P. H. Holyoak, was the speaker on Saturday night, and spoke of world co-operation and the promotion of international friendship.
The Commissioner, the Rev. G. T. Waldegrave, said that the gathering was significant of the objects of Scouting, in that it promoted brotherhood. There were present Scouts of various nationalities, who all worked in friendly co-operation with each other. They were giving the lead which the Governor had recently appealed to be taken up by the formation of a "Concord Club."
The singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought the proceedings to a close.
