MISS BETTY BADEN-POWELL MARRIED

Miss Betty St. Clair Baden-Powell, younger daughter of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, was married at Bentley, Alton, Hampshire, recently to Mr. Gervase Charles Robert Clay, a member of the Northern Rhodesian Administrative Service and the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Arden Clay, of Weston House, Albury, Surrey.

Scouts in uniform, from Westminster Abbey choir school sang at the wedding.

The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of rich creamy satin, with a long train, and veil of old family lace lent by the bridegroom's mother. She carried a sheaf of Harrissl lilies.

The train-bearers were Michael Walton and Catherine Barne, the former wearing cream trousers and tunic and the latter a dress toning with those of the eight bridesmaids. The bridesmaids were the bride's sister, Miss Heather Baden-Powell, Miss Evie Clay, Miss Rosie Clay, and Miss Fenella Sergeaunt (cousins of the bridegroom), and the Misses Rosemary Farrer-Manby, Rosaline de Renzy Martin, Peggy Edge, and Margaret Crawford. They wore parchment-tinted satin with pale green sashes, green-tinted crystal haloes, and jade brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom.

The best man was the bridegroom's brother, Mr. Ralph Clay. About 400 guests attended the reception at Pax Hill.

The newly married couple sailed for Northern Rhodesia.
